Smoking Around a Baby?
My daughter has twins
that had rsv when they
were around 6 months
old. In arranging to
help them with day care,
etc. we (both sides of
parents) planned to help
take care of them. Her
mother-in-law smokes.
The pediatrician
informed her this was
not acceptable even if
she went outside to
smoke, because she was
bringing that horrible
odor in the house
immediately around the
babies. Based on the
comment from the doctor
I have been searching
all over the web about
the effects of this
strong smoke odor. It is
awful for those of us
who do not smoke and
does permeate the whole
area. My grandson has a
new baby and smokes a
lot. His argument is
that he does not smoke
around the baby. Yes
this has to be better,
but the smell has got to
have an effect on this
small infant in some
way, even if not as much
as being in the room.
They are very particular
about everything else
for the baby. Is there
anything or anyone that
can back me up on this
or any articles anyone
knows of?
Thanks TLUCARIO

How about this?
Have him smoke under the hood to the
range, so it is pulled out of the
house immediately or goes into the
filter system there.
I would suggest that there is
something more important to be
watchful of with a new baby: do not
let anyone hold baby who has strong
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms or
'flu like' symptoms that day.
The chemical I suspect as the cause
of 'gulf war syndrome and CFIDS
is
2-butoxyethanol and it
has a serious 2nd hand exposure
component to it.
Take a look at my info on this topic
SIDS
Flu or Not Flu?
The fatigue I believe
the doctors are looking for is
autoimmune hemolytic anemia from
this chemical exposure
