I am usually concerned about Ethylene Glycol Mono Butyl Ether,

C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH           MSDS info

signs of CFIDS - which would be a biormarker of 2-butoxyethanol poisoning

But have been having long lasting 'congestion' after being in a rental that the renter cleaned with Fantastik:  which contains up to 5% Polypropylene Glycol Mono Butyl Ether (Maybe more, as I don't know what version or year she was using) What's the chemical formula for this version of 'butyl?'

& since my sinus congestion (loosening of the sinuses) started up after my husband started working at rental that was vacated ... and needed more work to finish the cleanup he feels is necessary, & that the renter had used Fantastik to clean with ...

I strongly suspect that the chemical I'm concerned about was 'hanging in the air' and getting in our eyes ... (would affect pets also, so not a cleaning product I would use, whether it cleans well or not)
.

Since this renter works in the medical field, I suggested,

"Maybe you will meet a doctor someday who is interested in the harm of BUTYL

or know a doctor curious about Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, CFS, FM ... and what the fatigue most probably is

BUTYL or the 2-butoxyethanol should be suspect for most cancers and autoimmune issues in particular ... exposure looks like 'the flu' and low grade exposure looks like 'the sniffles' or congestion ... "Loosening of the sinuses"

I'm going to add a policy for renters in our rentals:

they can not use cleaning products that contain BUTYL

Fantastik contains BUTYL which is the most health hazardous component in many products. It is cause of the epidemic of cancers and autoimmune issues, and I suggest you do not use BUTYL & join a campaign to have Congress Ban it. Even 5% can be harmful if you spray the whole bottle in a place - which is what a renter did before departing & causing us to have exposure/ congestion that this chemical causes when we worked in the place for days afterwards

Public Discussion

The next day I received a call from 'the complaint' dept, but the lady said they didn't have any harmful components in the Fantastik product.  I said I had loosening of the sinsuses that is still ongoing, and that is how I recognize a mild exposure to BUTYL for me.  Lasting a week, maybe isn't a mild exposure, however.  I said she needed to be looking at the MSDS, not whatever list of ingredients she was finding

Just because a company is says a product is 'safe' or non toxic ....

does not mean that is the case -Simple Green

This was a favorite product of my friend, Helen.  She was a wonderful, hard working Christian woman.  She's dead now, and they will attribute her death & rapid heartbeat to a heart attack.  It was more likely collapse from lack of oxygen that these type of pesticide containing products would cause.

A similar componet - propellant that sprayed the Dioxin should be suspect for Vietnam Vets' primary health damage

Abstract for TR-515: PROPYLENE GLYCOL MONO-t-BUTYL ETHER ...

http://ntp.niehs.nih.gov/?objectid=070B5C0D-0E53-9C89-BBDAAC81A64EC609

Chemical Formula:  C7H16O2

Propylene glycol mono-t-butyl ether is used as a solvent for all-purpose cleaners, electronic chemicals, inks, adhesives, nail polish lacquers, and other waterreducible coatings. Propylene glycol mono-t-butyl ether was nominated for study by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission because of its widespread use, potential for human exposure, and the lack of adequate toxicological, chronic toxicity, and carcinogenicity information. Male and female F344/N rats and B6C3F1 mice were exposed to propylene glycol mono-tbutyl ether (at least 99% pure) by inhalation for 2 weeks, 3 months, or 2 years. The chemical structure of propylene glycol mono-t-butyl ether indicated a potential to induce a2u-globulin nephropathy, a male-specific renal syndrome characterized by the accumulation of hyaline droplets in the proximal tubule epithelium of F344/N rats. Thus, male NBR rats, which do not develop this condition, were exposed to propylene glycol mono-t-butyl ether concurrently with F344/N rats for 2 weeks for comparison of renal lesion development. Genetic toxicology studies were conducted in Salmonella typhimurium, cultured Chinese hamster ovary cells, and mouse peripheral blood erythrocytes.

8/27/08  * To NIH Research Division National Toxicology:  BUTLY causes most cancers ... And it is the anemia that should be listed as the number one cause of death in the Nation ...not heart attack. this chemical (per UK research) damages the heart, and causes lipid abnormalities ... I think when people collapse from the anemia, they are thought to have had a heart attack, not collapse from lack of appropriate numbers and type of RBCs
