& ...Adult shares that skin on feet is peeling

"A couple days ago, my 3 year old son  had skin peeling on his thumb.  It looked as if a blister had popped and now the skin was coming off.  Unfortunately he had no blister. This is affecting each finger on both hands. The skin begins to peel around the nail and then the top of the finger and half way down its base.  Why is this happening all of a sudden?  Soon as one finger peels, another one begins and it is repeated. I have read briefly about keratolysis exfoliativa is this the same thing?"  March, 2000

"Keratolysis exfoliative - This is what the problem is, I have been suffering with it on index and thumb for 3 years now.  I think I had it on my feet two years prior. For me, Vix vapor rub brings it on, as well as leather gloves"  bbaly 8/07

"I just noticed my 14 month old daughters fingertips and toes are peeling. I have no idea why. While looking it up on line I came across Kawasaki Disease. Has anyone looked into this?" mithy  8/4/07

What is Kawasaki disease?

Kawasaki disease is the most common form of vasculitis that primarily affects children. The disease produces irritation and inflammation of many tissues of the body, including the hands, feet, whites of the eyes, mouth, lips, and throat. High fever and swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck also are characteristic of this illness. The inflammation is uncomfortable, but resolves with time. However, the main threat from Kawasaki disease comes from its effect on the heart and blood vessels. Heart-related complications can be temporary or may affect the child long-term. The heart, particularly the coronary arteries, is affected in as many as 20 percent of children with Kawasaki disease.

Another name for Kawasaki disease is mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome.

Jul 9, 2008 ... What causes Kawasaki disease is not clear. Some researchers believe it is an infection, others an autoimmune disorder stimulated by an infection or exposure to an environmental toxin.

Q:  I am diabetic currently not on any medication, why are my hands peeling and now on some parts of my feet? 12-31-08       medhelp.org/posts/show/723559

High or low blood pressure, high or low blood sugar and high or low body temp

'Part of what 2-butoxyethanol does'

What about Autoimmune Hypothalamus?   *

What we blame on diabetes,

should be blamed on the chemical exposure that causes diabetes, and, and, and

I think diabetes (elevated blood sugar) * is a clue to a chemical exposure that causes autoimmune issues in general, and for 'diabetes' as a side effect also (part of autoimmune hypothalamus?) Do you have abnormal blood pressure?  ... abnormal body temperature?  high or low?

*

In reading some of the posts of 'skin peeling on hands' one poster indicated he had a cough for 2 years prior to this. A cough or other flu symptoms could also be a sign of exposure to a chemical. The one I would look into first: Is there any exposure to 2-butoxyethanol?

Another poster thought it might be Kawasaki disease (AKA mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome)

I noticed on one of the posts of gulf war vets' family that their child was diagnosed as having Kawasaki Disease and as I looked into, it appears that this does show up frequently after carpet cleaning. I suspect the harmful component in carpet cleaning that would do this
* is 2-butoxyethanol or some product with a BUTYL component. I also think the cause of gulf war syndrome (BEST match for all the ailments they declare ... & on the list of solvents & pesticides they were exposed to ... is 2-butoxyethanol)

Ask your doctor what can be done for stopping the immune system from attacking you ... and avoid any products that cause flu symptoms ... especially BUTYL .... and check into the new science of glycobiology for help

Why I looked into this chemical ?

Gulf war vet shares, "My son had Kawasaki's disease when he was 2, my daughter was born premature and died at 4 months from pneumonia, she also had osteopenia
."

(There is an autoimmune issue in which lungs fill up with fluid - Might it have been this instead of pneumonia?)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_disease

Kawasaki disease is predominantly a disease of young children, with 80% of patients younger than 5 years of age.
The disease affects boys more than girls. Approximately 2000 cases are identified in the United States each year.[2]
Causes
The causative agent of Kawasaki disease is still unknown.[3] However, current etiological theories center primarily on immunological causes for the disease. Much research is being performed to discover a definitive toxin or antigenic substance, possibly a superantigen, that is the specific cause of the disease. However, after interviewing the parents of all the U.S. reported cases, they all stated that with in two weeks before the symptoms occurred, they had the carpets in their house professionally cleaned. It is now thought that the most likely cause of the disease is contact with caustic agents present in the soaps used by professional carpet cleaners. The National Association of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians recommend that only "Green" carpet cleaning products be used in areas that children eat, sleep, or play. Green Seal & the U.S. EPA's Design for the environment program also support these recommendations.

Is Vitamin D too low?

SUGAR?

My friend's 18 year old grandson has had this several times since he was 7 or 8. A couple of years ago a pharmacist told his dad that it is caused by too much sugar. At the time he had a kidney infection and Dr. told him to cut down or out pop. He cut down on sugar drinks and the fingers did clear up. Now he is on a "Vitamin Water" & "Propel" drink along with energy drink kick and even though they are not carbonated they have a lot of sugar. He doesn't listen to the advice he got. And his fingers and toes are now peeling again.
