Should I get pregnant after having
a brain tumor? |
| I am a 25 year old female. I was
diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in June 2008 and
underwent surgery to remove it. It was the size of an
apple and diagnosed a grade 2 tumor. It grew back in
September 2008 and that's when i began rigorous
radiation and oral chemotherapy (Temozolomide). My
recent MRI has showed the regrowth of the tumor to be
"gone." The plan is to take the Temozolomide for 2
years along with Accutane (which helps the oral
chemotherapy work better). My fiancé and I are planning
on getting married soon and more than anything is our
dream to have children. Is it safe for me to me to get
pregnant after being on Temozolomide and Accutane for
two years? How long should I wait? I have heard that
there a strong chance of the tumor recurring if I ever
become pregnant due to the increase of hormones during
pregnancy!! This is all very scary for me!! All I want
to do is be normal again. Any information or suggestions
would be so helpful! Thank-you.

I would not take
Accutane as there is a butylated
inert ingredient and it dries out your whole body for life. I'm
sorry to hear it is being prescribed for the multitude of brain
tumors and lesser than severe acne, which was its original purpose.
I suspect some exposure to BUTYL or 2-butoxyethanol (most common
form) is a primary cause of tumors of all kinds, many cancers and
birth defects.
Do you recall a serious flu? What were you doing then?
Avoid cleaning products with an EPA registration number (It
indicates a pesticide ... often this one). This chemical is in
widespread use for military, and in home cleaning products, paint
and products often used by mechanics and carpenters. |
