| Margaret Diann Hursh Dear EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, I am mailing you a letter today. The harm of glycol ether such as 2-butoxyethanol is rampant in our society and its harm is always blamed on something else. It is the cause of flu symptoms (not a virus). It's use needs to be banned by Congress. Check the seriously ill gulf workers for blood in urine & the anemia that even EPA recognizes. Cancers and birth defects and autoimmune issues and CFIDS is what glycol ether does. http://www.valdezlink.com/re/health/epa-adminletter.htm | |||||

| Wow, how did you find this info, Adam? I agree in the harm of glycol
ether. The MSDS I found said up to 38% 2-butoxyethanol in Corexit 9500
and 30-60% 2-butoxyethanol in Corexit 9527. I heard there was a new
formulation in use now. Is that true? Use of Corexit should cease
IMMEDIATELY! Glycol ether is the cause of FLU, by the way, NOT a virus.

2 major medical misconceptions There are two major misconceptions in medical science. One is that flu symptoms are caused by a virus. No, flu symptoms are caused from exposure to glycol ether such as is as much as 60% strong in some Corexit dispersants (2-butoxyethanol). Worst exposure is vapors in eyes. You don't have to be a worker to be affected. Look for blood in urine, as they did for beach workers in 1989 with only 10% 2-butoxyethanol. Next major misconception is that very high white blood cell counts is a sign of an infection. For this group of people, it is more probably a sign of the advanced anemia of CFIDS not found by doctors: AIHA or IMHA. http://www.valdezlink.com/re/health/comment.htm Be concerned about lack of oxygen from immune system prematurely destroying the red blood cells. And be concerned about organs shutting down. #9 - Wed Jul 28, 2010 11:30 PM AKDT The most probable cause of autoimmune issues and Autism and most cancers; many birth defects. The most probable cause of 'gulf war syndrome'.

Thank you for your comments about exposure to glycol ethers and subsequent anemia. The scientific literature seems to support your concerns. Thanks for contacting the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences!
