I need some help

I have been doing a lot of research lately on the internet to get answers on Gulf War Syndrome. I served one tour in Afghanistan on 02 and 2 in Iraq 04 and 05. Since coming home in December I started showing odd health problems. It all came to a peak in July when it felt like I was having a heart attack. Being 29 and in excellent shape I was freaked out and confused. Since that time my health has deteriorated. Everyday I am having chest pains, difficulty breathing, muscle and joint pains, and fatigue. I also was experiencing difficulty with balance and falling over.. that also got worse. Two weeks ago I completely passed out and then a week ago I started having all out seizures. The two times I have been to the ER the docs just look at me like I am retarded. I have been trying to get into the VA to see a doc but that has been a joke and from what I seen recently they don't want to support us vets either. I found a Dr. Garth Nicolson on the internet. He has been doing research on GWS since the original war. I started corresponding with him and he gave me a lot of information showing that a lot of time GWS is a microbial bacterial infection in the mycoplasm family. I took all this research to my doctor and he finally seemed to be concerned. I have an appointment tomorrow to do an EEG for the seizures and then my family doc is going to do the blood work and have it sent to Dr. Nicolson.

I was never ill before serving so this has been a real scary time for me. I work as a field tech for Tmobile and driving is a vital part of my job so I am worried now with the seizures I am going to lose my license. I am hoping that the information I have provided can help someone and also someone can help me that knows more. My goal is to get healthy again. here is a link showing the research of Dr. Nicolson.. http://www.immed.org/illness/gulfwar_illness_research.html

One other thing I would like to know is whether I should join the DAV or the American Legion or both?? can someone please guide me in the right direction??

Re: I need some help

Gulf war syndrome vets?

Ask your doctor to check the blood work manually ... and find out all he/she can about the red blood cells. I suspect you are dealing with exposure to 2-butoxyethanol which has been a problem down through the decades &before that in periods of war. Bomb fumes in your eyes

The fatigue I suspect is approaching ... or full blown .... autoimmune hemolytic anemia which this chemical causes.

Is there blood in urine?

That is also one of its clues for those with direct exposure. Many people have a specialty interest & want to focus on just the nervous system issues.

You are dealing primarily with an autoimmune immune system & lots of glandular hormones can go high or low & still be part of what this chemical exposure does.

I think seizures can be from lack of oxygen ... still part of the
fatigue.

Re: Seizures

I've talked to a lot of gulf war vets ... most by internet

I think a study should be done on how EVOS workers look like the 'gulf war syndrome' vets ... and LIKE others

Can I talk to you on instant messenger on yahoo

so I can talk to you more about the symptoms I am going through??

Sure, I'll get that set up

From what you've shared already, it sounds like you have 'the pattern' of harm that

2-butoxyethanol would cause.

Ask about CIDP

and ask your doctor to look at some of this info

I am on Eastern time right now. I have an EEG in the morning and they have me staying up all night to do a sleep deprived version..

It all really started with flu like symptoms then I had all the signs of a heart attack..
from there on a daily basis I have headaches,*  * muscle/joint pains,* fatigue,*  * chest pains, difficulty breathing, seizures (as of last two weeks) temper problems * .. get mad quick and easy which is way different than before I started getting sick.

My fiancé did notice that when I came home in December 05 I was kicking thrashing screaming and moaning in my sleep. doctors have said that I do have post traumatic stress disorder but that does not explain all my problems. both times I went to the ER i was treated like I was a nutcase and the last time I was referred to a mental facility. I was never sick before so I know something is wrong. I am going to present this information to the doctors tomorrow.

Is there any cure for this? I am just starting to dig into what you sent me. you can call me but it would have to be 3p your time 9-14-06
