Question: Does anyone know what might affect a person with burning eyes & skin, headache, dizziness and not being able to think clearly ...

in Lysol & Oust?

 Thank you for this:

"Below are the list of ingredients for Lysol and Oust from their MSDS.  The full MSDS can be found at the links. If you click on the chemical it give more information."

FAIR USE NOTICE
Any high level of carbons/hydrogens would probably be a concern (even in small amounts) especially when products spray it & you are having a reaction to it.  Others could probably use it without this reaction, but those who have had too much of any type of chemicals, would be more sensitive if there was something harmful there.

Notice, however, how high a concentration of this #64-17-5 is!  Dawn is a less harmful than EGBE, but if you get a lot of exposure ... then it can be more harmful to you.

C2H6O

CAS No. 64-17-5

  Well, how about that?

We would probably find something interesting if we looked and the chemical formula ... as this is a blend:  Handbook for Handling, Storing, and Dispensing E85. Office of ...
percentage of alcohol (by volume) in the blend. The ethanol used in fuel blends is denatured (?poisoned? to ... Ethyl Alcohol (200 proof) CAS 0064-17-5 ...

2 pages - pdf  C2H6O / CH3CH2OH ... so bad ...

but not as bad as 2-butoxyethanol

These are the chemicals that are worse:

C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH

CAS number 00111-76-2

This is the complex form of 2-butoxyethanol

(note the Carbons and Hydrogens):

C8H18O3 / CH2(CH2)3OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OHDGME

CAS number 00112-34-5

& these have lots of other names

My friend, Helen , used to use Lysol Tub 'n Tile & I suspect it contributed to the CFS type symptoms and eventually her death

Dow calls 2-butoxyethanol by its trade name.  I suspect misting it at work caused serious harm to Audrey's husband

If you have a choice of an older MSDS from 2002 & back it may give more complete info,as EPA has delisted it,  and it may be there but not disclosed in MSDS info now.

Protect the eyes! & cuticle areas - Primary route of exposure for EGBE

Janitorial Project Logo

EPA & CA did a study

Janitorial Products Pollution Prevention Project - Sponsored by US EPA, State of California, Santa Clara County, the City of Richmond, and the Local Government Commission. Written by Thomas Barron, Carol Berg, and Linda Bookman. 6/99.  *6% of professional janitors are harmed each year from cleaning compounds.

I know a homemaker who was very diligent about cleaning throughout her life. At retirement age she came down with low red blood cell anemia and kidney problems, and high blood pressure and high blood sugar and agravated arthritis; Do you also have the CNS, personality changes, etc.? That is part of the package of 2-butoxyethanol poisoning. What was her favorite cleaning product? Lysol Tub 'n Tile

Those who clean are at risk - Exposure is cumulative

Moms should use goggles & gloves -this contains a complex type of 2-butoxyethanol

409 Cleaner contains 2-butoxyethanol AND ethylene oxide - It is most like Corexit, the Exxon dispersant

EYES: IRRITATION. SKIN: ABSORBED. EXPOSURE
TO ETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOBUTYL ETHER WILL CAUSE BLOOD & BONE MARROW DAMAGE.

Carcinogenicity - NTP: YES
Carcinogenicity - IARC: YES   OSHA: NO

Learn that Corexit is  most like 409 Cleaner which was Banned by BP at North Slope site. Sadly, just learned that the Equipment Dept of Alyeska uses it by the 'bucketful' NOT other depts, thankfully. 11-1-03

Instead of running for the pharmacy ... ask yourself, what is going on differently than before?  What am I doing?  Who has come into the house or workplace just then?

Me?   I get diarrhea - Right NOW - Others get Flu like Symptoms

Margaret

US Rep, Bart Stupak lost his teenage son to suicide which appeared to be from taking Accutane (an acne medication)  Warnings look very much like that of 2-butoxyethanol.  I noticed that Accutane has a butylated inert ingredient.

I also suspect reproductive harm to men and women even years after taking this medication.

Do you have concerns? Contact Congress

Butyl ethers should be banned

Housewives should also get MSDS info on the products they use

It is VERY BAD in oven / grill cleaners and in brake fluid.

What causes the CFIDS later?  They will remember a significant FLU,

just as I think Aristotle Onassis did
