(newbie) any advise?
Hello all;
I am new to the internet message board thing, so, have
patience!
I'm a gulf war vet, and have many of the symptoms that have
been mentioned in the other posts. My problems started
during, and shortly after returning from the gulf. First
were the stomach problems, diarrhea, then came the hives,
skin rashes, and headaches.
After getting discharged, I was admitted to the VA hospital
for tests. They didn't really diagnose me with anything, as
far as I can remember, but they were more than willing to
give me plenty medication. Their "medication"
caused more problems on top of the problems that I already
had. I put up with the medication and antibiotics
for a while, let them poke and prod me, then I finally had
enough. I wasn't able to hold down a job due to the
medications, and the other problems. Finally I stopped
taking their drugs, and kept pushing forward on my own. It
has been about 12 years since then.
For the last couple of years, the fatigue has gotten worse.
I have been taking lots of vitamins to try to keep myself up
to par, but they don't seem to be helping as much as they
did before.
I have finally got an appointment today for a medical
disability evaluation. I haven't got much hope in the VA helping me with the problems that I am having.
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with any kind of
treatment, diet supplements, etc... to help with the
fatigue?
My problems/symptoms are:
Constant headaches
very bad memory loss
swollen, pain in joints
sleep problems
diarrhea
problems focusing sometimes
skin rashes, and hives
fatigue
intermittent dizziness
irritability
etc, etc, etc...
I constantly have to write myself sticky notes to keep up
with everyday things that I should remember. I have to look
up my children's birthdays because I can't remember them...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re:
gws (newbie) any advise?
I don't have a clue... but
I would try a lot of yogurt with acidophilus for immune
system and, Centrum "Chewable" Orange Flavored (50
Tablets); I was in really bad shape worse than I am now and that seemed to
stop a certain problem I was having. I was feeling like ****! Really
baaaaadddd. This helped my condition to be a little bit more tolerable.
Absorbine Jr. Original "green" color for the lumbar pain from
the arthritis
and joint
pain it really helps; Stay away from caffeine it makes the joint
pains worse and much more severe! I can't hardly even help myself but I
will try to help anyone that I can. Lots of food will help with the
fatigue and energy robbing problem also. I don't exercise at all because
it hurts me in my fragile state of sickness that I am in. I wouldn't
recommend it at all with the fatigue. I walk around a lot though like
through the house but the fatigue takes a lot out of me and makes things
difficult.
I have all the same problems
you have and many more also. It is very bad. I fell 2 days
after the inoculations we got but I was very healthy and
ran 3 miles a day. I came in 2nd place out of 3 schools
when I was in cross country and track. But for some reason
it really hit me hard. The vaccines did this to me and I
noticed right away that something wasn't right. I do
remember a lab tech. mention something about our problem
was adjuvants disease is what it is called but no other
details were mentioned. All I know is I am really very
sick and no answers... I believe someone else mentioned to
me that if the Government botched our vaccines then they
should help us sick veterans...
I would try to do anything
that you can to get better like bed rest like I do-- lots
of it; R&R really helps me save up my energy so I can
at least get out of the house for short durations or at
least until my body acts up on me. I have limits and my
wife has been getting upset at me lately because I can't
work. I am a burden to her and she doesn't like taking
care of a sick person. I was barely making it with a job
when I met my wife and now I simply can not work due to my
disability has worsened ever since 1998; I haven't worked
any since 1998! I only worked light duty type jobs only
prior to 1998 but was always really very sick and in 1998
I was getting worse and my body was deteriorating and I
was dragging my feet a lot and tripping, etc. Certain
people began to notice and things went down hill for me
there-after... I also have the whole list of symptoms as
GWS sufferers do. Good luck to you I hope you get better
than before. I only slowed things down alittle but
anything helps! I am still very sick though despite the
remedies mentioned above.
You may also want to ask GOD for help if it be his will to
help you. If you don't get better then maybe that is your
test in life? Accept it and just try to go on the best you
can. I am really messed up but I pray often and keep a
open channel to GOD! You have to when you are sick as I
am... You can write [ removed ] anytime if you need
any advice, I will try to help if I am able to do so. From
what all I have learned recently, we are in for a heck of
a ride with the GWS to get any help or Social Security
help! It all comes down to proof and getting a doctor to
put into writing that you have GWS which is very difficult
if not impossible to achieve! I plan on trying later on
with this route. Those vaccines really damaged us and our
bodies are really screwed up. It was catastrophic for me--
I mean the damage done!!!

On a first post and
with a request to be patient with you,
I ask all
moderators to give 2 warnings before banning any gulf war vet.
As you can tell by their ailments they have a lot to deal with
& they need forums like this. Someone
may have help for them, and believe me there is precious little of that.
To jacquecrawford, hang
in there. Most bans are short lived, but it sure does make you feel
bad, doesn't it. I've been
banned at least twice, and since then have contributed significantly to
this forum. Please read my
other posts, or if you can't I'll restate them for you again here.
If you see that I get banned for what I am saying here, then, it is
their loss.
The fatigue is acquired
autoimmune hemolytic anemia. The
immune system is prematurely destroying the red blood cells, but this
anemia does not show up in the regular bloodwork.
Look at the reticulocyte
count.
It will be higher than normal because the bone marrow is working
double time making new red blood cells. ... but over time it drops and
drops and drops. Is there blood in your urine?
Red blood cell counts are not the normal ratio of mature to
immature ... there are too many immature red blood cells.
Are ferritin levels on the low side?
There is something going on with the proteins, not enough and that
may be why the joints ache, etc.
The chemical exposure
that would cause these things is 2-butoxyethanol.
It
is in gun cleaners, and all kinds of cleaners; maybe in jet fuel.
You must learn what products you use today that contain such ... or
you can push yourself towards the cancers ... which are multiple and which
this chemical is the root cause of. But
what gets blamed? heart,
diabetes, all kinds of other secondary things.
