Dear Senator Stevens,
I would write; however, mail may not be reaching you now.
Thank you for your letter. You have hit on precisely the point, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether
(2-butoxyethanol) has been around for over half a century ... and used in many, many products during that time and also may I add:
harming many, many people all that time, too.
I am particularly concerned for today's military - as repetitive use of gun cleaners and certain jet fuels and certain pesticides (AND can you help me find what else?) ... are but a few exposures they have. What will we do when we have poisoned our best soldiers & they are released from service as
may be happening now: http://www.valdezlink.com/alford.htm#note
Only the secondary symptoms of endocrine disruption, immune system damage, blood damage, central nervous system damage, kidney failure, liver
damage, skin damage, reproductive harm ... are getting the 'credit' for all the harm they do.
BUT the harm can be found
out; and we can stop people from being harmed by them.
Please check some of this information

(Note EPA has tested both of these for endocrine disruption. They are not only solvents, but pesticides;
poisons!)
Note that the Gulf War Vets were exposed to them http://books.nap.edu/books/030908458X/html/569.html#pagetop
In 1996 the New Yorker, the NY Times, USA Today and Mother Jones ran articles on the
decline of sperm and the quality of sperm in our nation over the past 50+ years. At the rate we are going, by the next 50 years our men will have zero sperm. (Happened to a
Coast Guard monitor of the 1989 'Bioremediation' experiment) AND
this chemical is said to damage the testes in particular (Strange coincidence?)
I hope to see Alaska out in the forefront of stopping this harm to our people. Studies can be done that find this, without a great expense, and I would like to be involved in such.
