Coast Guard beach monitors were not "traveling lookers" They were on the beach before the workers arrived, and left only after the last one was gone in the evening. Most were there more hours than the workers themselves. VECO friends would help some by bringing boxed lunches because the CG didn't bother with lunches for the monitors.
