Dear Ms. Hursh:

Thank you for your e-mail to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) regarding trials of glyconutrients for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and for veterans of the Gulf War.

NCCAM is 1 of 27 institutes and centers that make up the National Institutes of Health. Our mission is to explore complementary and alternative healing practices in the context of rigorous science, train complementary and alternative medicine researchers, and disseminate authoritative information to the public and professionals. We appreciate your sharing your views on glyconutrients.

You may be interested to know that NCCAM supports research through grants. Typically, the process for conducting scientific research is for a researcher to propose a study and submit a grant application, which is then evaluated through peer review for scientific merit. If you would like more information about NCCAM-supported research and the grant application process, please visit our Web site at  http://nccam.nih.gov/research

We appreciate your interest in NCCAM. Please contact the NCCAM Clearinghouse again if you need more information or clarification.

Sincerely yours,

Terry Evans

I suspect the gulf war syndrome to be more probably the exposure to 2-butoxyethanol &/or diethylene glycol monobutyl ether which causes all the ailments they describe, and which is on the list of solvents and pesticides they were exposed to valdezlink.com/same.htm  I still do not know why the DoD put it on the list, but I've been asking for over a year now.

You can't look at only one MSDS & find out what this chemical does.  It causes, best I can tell CFIDS and there are several things to check (not just blood counts) to find it's harm

This man may not have gone to prison for assault had he not had the Central Nervous System damage from the chemical in the paint he worked with for years.

You must know whether or not red blood cells are immature or WBC and liver counts read higher than they are, etc.

I believe this chemical to be more likely the real harm to the Vietnam vet than dioxin  http://home.gci.net/~blessing /pages/vietnam.htm

The public can be just as harmed by it
and it causes many birth defects and cancers,
though the USA chooses to look the other way

Diabetes is often a primary harm after the immune system going autoimmune. valdezlink.com/pages /diabetes.htm

Just because it 'looks like' the flu, doesn't mean it IS the flu *

One ovary only a tumor -

Shared a friend, "My mom worked in a furniture factory before I was born:  lots of paint and varnish fumes there.

As I grew up, my dad was in the painting business and taught all my brothers how to paint professionally. (He died of prostate cancer)

I was born with only one ovary, the other ovary was a tumor.  At age 13  I weighed 79 lbs and the tumor was 9 pounds of that. I looked like one of the starving children but with the tummy bulge on the left side.  When I got married, the doctor advised us to have our children early.  We did

One daughter died of Lupus after she was grown. She had endometriosis and it was a miracle she could have a child at all.  She was never told that there would be no more children - ovaries were harmed - they were swollen to the size of sausages.

Illustration of the urinary tract or system consisting of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

Her son had a 'birth defect' of sorts.  His ureter tube was too small & had to be operated on

She thinks the horrible headaches that she and her  mom and grandma have/had are just 'hereditary'  I suspect they were all poisoned by 2-butoxyethanol type chemicals"

Maybe diabetes type 2, pituitary brain tumors & multiple autoimmune metabolic problems are birth defects from WWII parents' exposure to 2-butoxyethanol? (or similar chemical)

A Best Hope for Help
