I was pleased to hear IMUS praise a hospital for using non-toxic cleaners on his radio-athon charity fund raiser for cancer May 21, 2003. What people don't realize is that our nation has 'sold us short' to allow strong poison in our every day household cleaning products and in multiple industries: the auto industry in painting cars; the dry cleaning industry, the plastics industry and the CLEANING industry. EPA should never have approved Inipol EAP 13 or Inipol EAP 22 or any Corexit, either, for the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup. And since the symptoms are the same for 2-butoxyethanol poisoning in both worker populations: EVOS workers AND the Gulf War Syndrome Vets... I wonder if the military volunteers and medics and navy amphibious ships which housed the beach cleanup crews in Saudi Arabia, 1991, were caused from this or a similar chemical?
If our legislators have allowed profits for private industry to supercede the concern for its people, then truly we are a heathen, godless nation. If you knew the children born dead &/or deformed... if you knew the pain of any person so poisoned... & that of their families... you would use a little more 'elbow grease' when cleaning your bathtub, and demand that no products strong in 2-butoxyethanol EVER be used. www.valdezlink.com/heathen.htm
2-butoxyethanol is no respecter of persons - If you get too much exposure, you are health damaged - even if you take good care of yourself. This should never happen to anyone. The effects are cumulative. You can handle little exposures; however, over time, it's like a time bomb
Comments MSDS of 2-butoxyethanol : "DANGER! HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, INHALED OR ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. AFFECTS CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, BLOOD AND BLOOD-FORMING ORGANS, KIDNEYS, LIVER AND LYMPHOID SYSTEM.
May not be harmful if swallowed, per one Exxon executive who drank Corexit to prove it was safe.
Is he alive today?
(one Corexit MSDS said that ingestion was NOT a form of exposure; others say it is).
A more serious form of exposure would be vapors getting into one's eyes.
When you clean your house, mom, use goggles & chemical retardant gloves!
(only chemical identified is 2-butoxyethanol)
Hazard And Precautions:
EYES: IRRITATING, MAY INJURE TISSUE IF NOT REMOVED PROMPTLY.
SKIN: IRRITATING. ABSORPTION MAY CAUSE HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA & KIDNEY DAMAGE EVIDENCED BY PALENESS & RED COLORATION OF URINE.
INHALATION: RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION.
SYSTEMIC EFFECTS. INGESTION: LOW TOXICITY.
INHALATION/SKIN OVEREXPOSURE: BLOOD/KIDNEY DAMAGE.
TARGET ORGANS: EYES, SKIN, KIDNEYS, RESPIRATORY TRACT, BLOOD.
TARGET ORGANS: EYES, SKIN, LIVER, KIDNEYS, RESPIRATORY & DIGESTIVE TRACTS, HEART.
Hemolytic Anemia occurs first - and right away - per workers I've spoken with & medical data of 1989, too
Per an oncologist specialist, "There is no cure for hemolytic anemia." It lasts
Is your Immune System Compromised?
& medications don't help?
- any chemicals make matters worse
for those poisoned by chemicals
If science wants to know what 2-butoxyethanol does to people,
Of the 11,000 workers, approx 1,000 were 'bioremediation' workers
Please pray for them and their families!
Do you have some of these symptoms of CNS damage?
Get some information together BEFORE you see your medical doctor.
Doctors are not trained in chemical poisoning.
They won't know to thoroughly test for hemolytic anemia.
This substance may be hazardous to the environment;
special attention should be given to the water environment and aquifer.
If you are a marine biologist, check the blood of the porpoises, seals & other marine life, too.
What does hemolytic anemia from solvents look like in our marine life?
Lots of this chemical has been dumped in the oceans for oil spill cleanup in recent years.
"I've found the information I needed - hope you have, too"
Now to help the workers I have found;
and to find the rest of the EVOS workers!
