Some Long Term Effects of
Exposures to 2-butoxyethanol
Could be Very Similar to
Isotretinoin
I know that the Inipol EAP 22 was
purported to be a 'fertilizer'-type compound & was supposed to
bioremediate the crude oil of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill by application with
humans dispensing... so exposed if they breathed in the fumes &/or got in
on their skin. Turns out that 2-butoxyethanol is classified as a
poison & was a surfactant. So strong that it was this surfactant
quality that in lay terms, 'dry cleaned' the beaches. Like using
'Spray 'n Wash' It did not bioremediate anything other than maybe a
little of the refined oil they put back into the water. A hoax all the
way.
Ingredients in Accutane:
active, Isotretinoin,
inactive:
butylated hydroxyanisole,
edetate disodium, hydrogenated soybean oil
flakes, hydrogenated vegatable oil,
soybean
oil and some minor others in gelatin capsules: glycerin and
parabens (methyl and propyl), with the following dye systems: 10mg-iron oxide
and titanium dioxide; 20mg - FD&C Red No. 3, FD&C Blue No. 1, and
titanium dioxide; 40mg - FD&C Yellow No. 6, D&C Yellow No 10, and
titanium dioxide.
How much Success has Accutane
Had?
Not in Sales... but in
clearing up acne that may have cleared up on its own anyway?
My question. Could it be that this
is a hoax too? That there is no relief from nodular acne?
But that the drug industry seized upon a teen's desire for acceptance and
insecurity with acne in his or her life... that a new product which ends up
earning the company millions is not being banned? Or if it is successful
in the very limited use it should be put to...knowing that it can be used
improperly & health damage to user & unborn children (as it is a
teratogen) is certainly not worth the risks of approval by FDA
With 2-butoxyethanol strong use and strong
exposure, not a one of these workers would have a chance of escaping the health
damage: those that worked say, 6 weeks in 1989 (Aug-Sept) ... that alone
was enough to cause the overexposure... but some would have worked the summer of
1990, too. It might not take that much time exposure to affect your
health... we might be talking a lot longer than one month after exposures.
Sometimes, as they say, the damage lasts.
It is striking, that the
damage warnings to people is so similar.
Some of these comments seem
innocuous
... but when you look more
closely... they should be like neon lights...
WARNING! WARNING!
WARNING!
Though the Accutane Medication Guide states
Possible Serious Side Effects as
- Accutane can cause birth defects, premature
births, and death in babies
- Serious mental health problems
- Serious brain problems
- Abdomen problems.
Certain symptoms may mean that your internal organs are being damaged.
These organs include the liver, pancreas, bowel (intestines), and
esophagus. If your organs are damaged, they may not get
better even after you stop taking Accutane. Stop taking
Accutane and call your prescriber if you get severe stomach, chest or bowel
pain, trouble swallowing or painful swallowing, new or worsening heartburn,
diarrhea, rectal bleeding, yellowing of your skin or eyes, or dark urine.
- Bone and muscle problems
- Hearing problems.
- Vision problems
- Lipid (fats and cholesterol in blood) problems.
- Allergic reactions
Signs of other possibly serious problems.
Also dry skin, chapped lips, dry eyes, dry nose
that may lead to nosebleeds. These are not all of Accutane's possible side
effects.
Blood damage: in the case of 2-butoxyehanol
it is hemolytic anemia (Crude oil's benzene
blood damage is aplastic anemia) What are they looking for in the
bloodwork the doctors do with Isotretinoin
- Accutane? One comment was maybe there could be a low
white blood cell count. Goodness that might make it hard for your
body to fight disease. What else might it mean? Benzene is known
to cause leukemia. What have those who took Accutane been coming down
with? Maybe the drug companies don't really want to know... If you come
forward and share... (with an independent entity) you can help take this
drug off the market & spare others health damage. If you've already
reported it to the manufacturer or to the FDA report it again to someone else.
Skin Damage... sounds the same;
2-butoxyethanol defats the skin. One man mentioned his ears couldn't be
in the sun, the skin would crack; massive nose bleeding that won't stop, from
thin membranes; rash in the lining of the stomach (Stomach cancer a few years
later occurred in a man who only transported the chemicals.. he said some
spilled in his boat. He is now at death's door with recurring stomach
cancer and melanoma)
Central Nervous System Damage:
difficulty concentrating, extreme irritability, clinic depression constantly,
suicidal tendencies. (Once you have damaged the Central Nervous System, it is
said to be permanent. Can you imagine living your whole life being
clinically depressed *
every day, no matter what? Can you
imagine how hard it would be to have good interpersonal relationships &
maintain a good marriage... be a good parent to your children? Get an
education? Keep a job?)
Dark urine:
that is blood in the urine representative of kidney damage... checking kidney
and liver function levels for the rest of your life. This is one of the
admonitions the workers with Inipol EAP 22 are faced with (Those
who spray paint cars or work with 2-butoxyethanol exposures from other
sources, too) Problem is, most of them don't know it & will be close
to kidney failure before they know it.
Reproductive damage in men as
well as women. Some will not be able to have children. If they do,
they could be born deformed. The next generation could be affected, too.
A few years out, check for things like
stomach cancer, melanoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, bone cancer,
liver cancer, lymph related cancers... (They don't tell you this, because they
say it hasn't been tested for in humans.)
Most doctors are unfamiliar with
chemical causes of such health damage as here described. Even the
workers don't understand they need to avoid chemicals... don't drink... don't
take any chemicals; taking an anti-depressant for Central Nervous System
damage will not help... likely it will hurt. These need to learn a
life-style of avoiding all chemicals.
If the bioremediation workers of the
Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup... or those who chose a career of spray
painting cars had it to do all over again.... they never would have taken such
employment. They may have shortened their life span by 30 years +/- and
been ill instead of healthy in the years intervening. Facts are just now
coming in, because they didn't realize the risks they encountered... didn't
have the benefit of the bloodwork the company did at that time. These
workers didn't have the information on the product before being exposed to it
in their work.
I know
what my son would have decided... given all the options: "No way,
Hosea" I'm out of here.
At
least Accutane prospective users and their doctors can make a decision prior
to ingesting a teratogen. Maybe only dermatologists should be allowed to
prescribe Accutane. (If it is deemed to accomplish any more than a hurry up of
what was going to happen anyway... given good, healthy life-style of those who
are working to clean up their severe acne... & that it will continue to be
approved by FDA at all.) Back... more things to consider www.valdezlink.com/inipol/pages/poison.htm

Ever
heard the expression, "Haste Makes Waste?"
What was
the hurry to cleanup the Exxon
Valdez oil spill?
... they didn't... they only appeared to & in the meantime, they damaged
multi hundreds of lives unnecessarily. They made a bad situation worse
by poisoning the oceans and the people with 2-butoxyethanol... maybe for image
sake... maybe for a money-maker 'miracle product' But in the end, it was
the winter storms of Alaska that cleaned the beaches of the oil.
(Hot
water wash? "Oh if 120 degrees doesn't do anything," one
supervisor said, "Kick it up to 180 degrees!" ... just drove the oil
deeper into the ground - destroying whole sand dollar colonies, flora &
fauna, and stirring up the oil to expose the workers to benzenes, etc)
