Wondering What the Connection Might be

Between

 Gulf War Syndrome...

the voluntary Military Personnel

who cleaned up the Petroleum Mess in Iraq starting March-May, *

with 'Bioremediation' Chemicals in 1991

and

the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill "Bioremediation" Applicators

Workers of 1989 and 1990 and 1991

HEALTH CONCERNS *

Look the Same....

Or it could have been the same component - 2-butoxyethanol - in some 'safe' cleaning compound-

One fish processing plant had its workers come down with asthma...

in just 2 days of using an 'approved' cleaning product

 - or was it the fish oils that had become aromatic?

What cleaning products were supplied to the troops?

Did anything happen to the many US Navy servicemen

who served aboard several Naval amphibious ships?

... the Navy ships which supported the clean-up effort, housing the civilian workers, etc?

4-8-03  "My name is Joan, and I am responding

on behalf of the Special Assistant for Gulf War Illnesses, Medical Readiness and Military Deployments.

In your e-mail you asked how many Gulf War veterans were in the Navy.

Slightly more than 148,000 Navy personnel deployed to the Kuwait Theater of Operations

 during Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your inquiry.

We hope this information is useful to you."

Over 150,000 veterans have put their names in the American Legion's database.

How many military had the duty of cleaning up the spilled oil?

Was Inipol EAP 22 or Corexit used?

Maybe not, but the new experiments most likely contained the harmful

 2-butoxyethanol   * C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH

 as both of these had.

"A small Texas company Alpha 30 Environmental had come from Austin to cleanse Saudi wetlands with its oil-eating microbes and a special biocatalyst to stimulate them. The Research Institute of King Fahd University set up experiments to test the technology and its after effects.  Alpha was optimistic that it would soon win a test of its technology on a Saudi beach."

I am looking for information on this project, 1991 which was mentioned in a National Geographic article:  (August, 1991)

Dear Diann,

The Research Institute of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals carried out a laboratory research study to evaluate the effectiveness of certain bioremediation products in degrading the oil spilled in the Arabian Gulf during the 1991 war.

Due to confidentiality agreement with the client, we will not be able to release any information regarding this project.

I am very sorry to hear this.

I don't think this company exists today.

Why doesn't this surprise me?

Exxon didn't want people knowing what they did, either!

... in response to the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, 1989

as noted by  Anchorage Daily News LA TIMES   -   Other Workers comment

... or breathed in the smoke's fumes?

What happens when you burn oil and chemicals together?

...that's a chemist's nightmare!

I noticed a picture of a GULF WAR Syndrome VET of the British Isles... in a news article.

It commented on the fact that his daughter's heart condition may have been from his now-poor health

The pictures of his entry into service and now... some years later were striking.

.... the sallow complexion, the weariness showing in his eyes

... painted a stark contrast from what was... to what is.

April, 2003 a worker from the animal cleaning station after the Exxon Valdez oil Spill commented that end of the season an odd looking aborted baby seal came to the center.  Later the workers came down with many ulcers in their mouths like the seal had.  She shared multiple health concerns:  nerve damage, central nervous system damage, pancreas damage, eye damage, intestine damage; bone damage.  (So far doctor's hadn't checked for hemolytic anemia)

When she had a daughter, the daughter was born with multiple heart problems.

With 4 operations behind her, the child will need a most serious heart operation when she turns 12.

2-butoxyethanol damage to parent & then the children are damaged, too?

The information on 2-butoxyethanol does state reproductive damage for men as well as women.

If you are a Gulf War Vet, look up this information

What are the symptoms?           Was 'Death-Row Jones' a Changed man?  *

Do you notice these symptoms by Congressman, Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) as being chemical overexposure?

"Veterans have reported a variety of symptoms, such as cognitive difficulties, trouble sleeping, loss of balance, numbness in the hands and feet, and joint and muscle pain. As of yet, researchers have been unable to pin down a cause for this mysterious illness, commonly referred to as the Gulf War Syndrome."  10-6-97

Symptoms of Gulf War Illnesses (according to the American Legion)

Compare to these lists of diagnosis of Gulf War Syndrome Vets

What happened at the end of the Gulf War in 1991?  There was an oil spill - the largest in history!  Medics and volunteer military 'cleaned' the birds... much like what was done in Seward and Valdez animal rehab centers.  There were multiple amphibious navy ships which housed the crews doing the beach cleanup.  There were nations from around the world doing who knows what... including an Austin, TX company experimenting much like Exxon did in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup.

Check Symptoms of Chemical Overexposures * ... & continue on... to see what 2-butoxyethanol in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup chemicals did, and which it also does to those who spray paint cars, and work with dry-cleaning and dissolving plastic.   And they have these symptoms *

So, dear one, Our Honored Vets ... Do you get this malarkey all the time?

What are they telling you?   Such things as:

"Is this a real disease?"

"Probably not.  Gulf War Syndrome appears to be a myth.  The New England Journal of Medicine, so far, is one of the only publications that has taken a stand against the Gulf War Syndrome advocates.  In November, 1996 they published results disputing the existence of Gulf War Syndrome.

Gulf War Syndrome is, most likely, an unfortunate bi-product of a combination of things.

  1. Tremendous media hype surrounding the threat of chemical and biological weapons during the Gulf War.
  2. The litigious nature of our society, and
  3. The fact that the United States Government is a target for litigation with very deep pockets.

Make no mistake about it, the proponents of Gulf War Syndrome will stop at nothing less than a large monetary settlement with the United States Government, at taxpayers' expense."

Well, maybe you just want to LIVE... Did anyone think about that?!

Check your Blood * ... that will tell the truth  *

Are these Your Symptoms:  http://www.valdezlink.com/contact.htm

God Bless You... Check with an Environmental Toxicologist,

or contact those who are learning about what happened

to the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup workers!

Let's hope for more!

May the entire American Medical Association

look into the effects of

2-butoxyethanol poisoning

it wouldn't be material possessions...

it would be for good health and longevity."
