'gulf war syndrome' in general population

We can thank the gulf war vets for bringing to our attention the 'stealth killer' of the century: 2-butoxyethanol poisoning. We are poisoning our troops then and now, and the general population, too, with a common cleaning and degreaser chemical. Painters, housewives, mechanics and many, many others are at risk. Especially those who clean up oil spills, as this was the chemical used during the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup, and it harmed a lot of people, workers and people in the area, as well.

Its harm can be found; it is the cause of the CFIDS, Chronic Fatigue and the reason doctors don't know what this fatigue is, is because it doesn't show up in the regular bloodwork as they expect it to.

Look for blood in urine. This chemical causes acquired autoimmune hemolytic anemia and for many years after an acute attack there will be at least trace blood in urine.

The reticulocyte count is very elevated with an acute attack, but over time may drop and drop. Soon someone may not even be making enough red blood cells.

The immune system is attacking the red blood cells, but the bone marrow covers it up by making the red blood cells at an accelerated rate: not only will there be blood in urine from the red blood cells that are prematurely being destroyed by one's immune system, but the red blood cells that are counted are not the normal ratio of mature to immature red blood cells. Too many will be immature.

This chemical is a pesticide, a poison and a solvent. It disrupts the glands. Blood sugar can go high or low; blood pressure can go high or low.

This chemical is the cause of many cancers, but it gets blamed for none of them. Check all cancer study groups for blood in urine and too many immature red blood cells.  It can cause tumor of the brain and leukemias & lymphomas especially

This chemical may harm the kidneys, the liver, all glands, AND the central nervous system resulting in short term memory loss, difficulty concentrating, extreme irritability, difficulty sleeping, suicidal tendencies AND all the time DEPRESSION.

It is the 'tornado' chemical. It comes and goes in 24-48 hours, but the human devastation is unbelievable. And we are even talking harm to the unborn. What a loss to our nation's productivity and what a strain on the medical services and human services, insurance companies & even prison systems. Many become homeless, loose their families ... they cannot nurture their children, their spouses. They have 'accidents' on purpose.

Please check to see what you use and realize that it is not ingestion, but vapors in the eyes, and at the cuticle area that is the worst exposure to this chemical.

Protect Yourself From Future Harm

Check for what products contain 2-butoxyethanol
(CAS Registry Number: 000111-76-2)
in the Household Products Data Base
http://hpd.nlm.nih.gov/ingredients.htm

Also check for the complex version Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether or 2-2-butoxyethanol (CAS Registry Number: 000112-34-5) 5% concentration is not safe for home use, per one expert in product development.

If you want to know about a specific product you use, put the name of the product, comma, and then the letters MSDS (Stands for Material Safety Data Sheet) and the internet should be able to give enough choices that you can see if this chemical is in the product you are using.

People do not take the warnings seriously, but they should. Wear goggles and chemical retardant gloves and have ventilation equivalent to outdoors.

On the other hand, most of the time the ingredient is NOT disclosed and you have to know what type of warnings might indicate such. Something really needs to change here. A clean bathtub is not worth someone's life. The price we are paying is NOT worth the benefit received. It is an unnecessary harm.

Every one should be checking their own health, at least in blood and urine results; however, I have heard reports that the 'rules have changed' and the doctor can have the test results, but they don't have to be given to the patient when asked for.

This will most definitely impede our discovering the harm of this chemical.  We have a national, unrecognized health crisis!

Re: 'gulf war syndrome' in general population
Your post seems to be dangerous because it's like screaming fire in a crowded theater.
Gulf war syndrome was cause by exposure to the residue from depleted uranium shells. You can see this show sometime on THC. Depleted uranium shells are like a mini-nuclear explosion and as such the troops received low level radiation posioning. Its is dangerous to suggest that people in the general public can acquire this syndrome. THC show a person who went out to the battlefield, who buried tanks and trucks that had been hit by DU shells. Because of his exposure, he too is dying of the syndrome. But exposure to exploded depleted uranium shells is the only way you can get Gulf War syndrome.

Uranium is only a theory

... and it does make sense. The deformed children, etc;

And I agree that to give you my conclusion which took me over two years of intensive 'seeking' ... in just a couple of paragraphs, is too big a hurdle.

This 2-butoxyethanol and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (2-2-butoxyethanol) are exposures the troops had. http://www.valdezlink.com/same.htm
Note the first link on this web page, and you will see it was published in the Feb, 2003 book mandated by Congress on the solvents and pesticides gulf war troops were exposed to. (It is both of these, and known as a poison also by EPA and CA Janitorial study)

This chemical HAS NOT been studied!

as far as a cause of 'Gulf War Syndrome,' that is.

Here is some good MSDS info on 2-butoxyethanol.

But I assure you, that to the best of my study of this chemical, it does all of the symptoms all by itself.

scenario ?

It is also a teratogen, and damages the unborn and in some cases, with too much exposure, causes a man to become sterile and unable to father any children at all.

Second hand exposure is very strong ...
That is why spouses and children born before the gulf war, have come down with the 'syndrome' too.

If you look closely at the definitions of CFS, Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, and "gulf war syndrome" ... they are nearly identical

Acquired Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia such as 2-butoxyethanol causes is the FATIGUE doctors are looking for ... an exposure for 'the gulf war syndrome' vets AND the public

Look for blood in urine,
and for too many immature red blood cells

Track your own red blood cells counts over time;
Follow the 'reticulocyte count'

What size and shape are the red blood cells, what is their membranes like? direct Coomb's test?

Note the definitions of CFS, CFIDS, and 'gulf war syndrome' are very similar www.valdezlink.com/cfid_share.htm

Check your own 'blood's health
www.valdezlink.com/check_blood.htm

www.valdezlink.com/why_fatigue.htm

I have been studying this chemical for over 2 years, and it should be considered as the cause of 'gulf war syndrome' CFIDS, CFS & similar

Look at what this chemical does
www.valdezlink.com/acute.htm

This fatigue does not show up in the regular blood tests, so doctors are not looking further. Please ask you doctor to investigate this.

I also posted as 'mother margaret' here ... but forgot my password one day, and started over.
