| extramedullary hematopoiesis: red blood cell production outside the vertebrae. Red blood cells are derived from the stem cells in the bone marrow throughout the body. When individuals become severely anemic, there is not enough space in the ctive bone marrow to produce hemoglobin, and the body begins to make blood outside the bone marrow: in the spleen, liver, and sometimes outside the vertebrae, which can compress the spinal cord, leading to
paralysis
Did you say your husband was a
paraplegic?
I heard of this happening to a painter (who died this past 2003 as a young man. He was being seen for prostate cancer, and he had pain in his back & bones, but didn't get a diagnosis for that. He was paralyzed due to? This chemical affects painters, and his family (after his death) said that he had all of the symptoms of this chemical exposure, 2-butoxyethanol - (& of course he was exposed to the chemical) but he didn't get an accurate diagnosis - they didn't know what was happening with his bones. Since there is a red blood cell anemia, I was wondering if the above definition was
part of what is happening to these .... (either from very extreme, serious exposure to too much of the chemical even in a brief exposure, or in many mini exposures over a long period of time)?

mentions several groups affected, sometimes with more information.
I'm afraid that with all the test done on Gulf War vets, they have ignored this chemical; even those on the board wish my sharing about it would cease, don't you think?
Why? It causes all the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome. The troops were known to be exposed to it (& I can think of a few
other exposures they may not have thought about) And has anyone had tests such as
retic
ratio, etc that would eliminate this as a possible cause of their harm?

When the VA in Alabama ordered blood work from an Arizona lab on many of
their gulf war vets, I became quite excited; when I called the lab, they
were only testing to see if the gulf war vets were symptomatic of having
an infection... phooey ... they were on the right track to test the blood,
but they didn't test it for what it needed to be tested for.
