Dear Dr. Goldman,

You are exactly correct in your statement, "They're not different from the symptoms deployed people have. They just report them at a higher rate," (Gulf war vets)

What they are concerned about is also rampant in our society. We are dealing with a pandemic exposure of many ... both in and out of the military to 2-butoxyethanol... for decades. Look for the BIG picture of CFIDS: approaching hemolytic anemia ... blood in urine as biomarkers ... an autoimmune immune system.

2-butoxyethanol is known to cause serious reproductive, developmental & blood damage & it is on the list of Solvents & Pesticides the gulf war troops were exposed to (Book 2)

The group to compare to, after comparing to themselves ... Healthy ... then NOT healthy

Symptoms of EGBE exposure ... the same as theirs

The harm of 2-butoxyethanol is unrecognized by doctors ... though not by researchers
http://groups.msn.com/Avoid2-BEforHealth-M...recognized.msnw

Even Dr Hugo Moser's pancreatic cancer ... could be 'part of this chemical's pattern'

I have no medical or research background, but I do recognize this chemical's pattern. I would like to help in any way that I can

Your credentials are impressive

I believe the Presumptive list for all military ... should include exposure to 2-butoxyethanol ... This for the 'gulf war syndrome' vets ... and the others, also

Question:  How is 2-butoxyethanol used in the context of the military and what is the reason that deployed soldiers in the Gulf area might have had more exposures to it than nondeployed soldiers?

Thanks so much,

 Re: 'gulf war syndrome' comment

Not recognized by researchers ... it is vapors in one's eyes (neither dermal nor ingestion) that causes the worst exposure ... and at the cuticle areas.  Researchers, still, however, have found out what 2-butoxyethanol does

There is a product called Corexit that was sold to the Dept of Defense after 1989; it is a creation of EXXON and it is 38% strong with 2-butoxyethanol.  It is a hazardous waste ... very corrosive ... will not stay in the 55 gallon barrels

Would harm Navy Seabees who transported it
Would have harmed everyone who went into the ARMS room, as it sounded  like it was there per one soldiers account to me
Maybe Exxon sold it for oil spill cleanup?

Valdez area did not use it; but it was developed in 1989
Sold to Australia for their 1995 oil spill

A major source of exposure was likely all the fumes from Scuds and Patriot Missiles colliding in air

I think it is also a jet fuel additive
I think Chad Pagel of Indiana was harmed by it ... he may have died in this past year ... his buddy did about a year prior.  He described to me a time in a particular battle in which is group secured the airport.  They all had immediate diarrhea ... big time.  (That is a strong clue to this chemical's exposure... as are eyes that burn & hurt)
He also put the gun-cleaning rag on his lap ... and has defatted skin there .  He burned the out house stuff with jet fuel, not a good thing to do without goggles

He & his buddy who died wanted to share their medical info
The CFIDS symptoms

It is still going on today
Just give a soldier repetitive job in which this exposure is there ... & they will get too much

Military needs to pay attention to flu-like symptoms
This chemical is most probably what we call 'the flu'

I write these web pages to capture my thoughts
They are not intended to be any 'authority

I have worked on this intensively for 4 years

And I've wondered about ... What is the propellant in Muntions?

Question:  "So you are telling me this is a chemical that is used for cleaning oil spills?  Like in water and on beaches or where or how?  Who would have used it; the soldiers involved in oil spill cleanup?"

Carolyn does this chemical appear on lists such as the DOD inventory and the RAND report?  I just don't remember seeing it on any of the lists.

REPLY Letter to Dr. Goldman #2:

Many Types of Cleaning ... in HOMES ... in paint

Not even safe in Simple Green ... which is 6% 2-butoxyethanol and used exclusively in the US Penitentiaries

  http://www.valdezlink.com/sg _audrey.htm

It is on this page in book#2

and not just 2-butoxyethanol ...
its compounded version, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether

I think it is in bomb fumes of many war periods
& the primary cause of Pres FDR's death;
the cause of President Eisenhower's 'diarrhea'
(second hand solvent exposure to this type of chemical)

In both cases from exposures starting back in WWI ... 1917, 1918

Pres FDR did not have polio, but an acute CIDP .. causing paralysis: Immune system attacking the Central Nervous System (?) similar to MS

My list of 'autoimmune' types of things this chemical could be suspect for http://www.valdezlink.com /pages/autoimmune.htm

It is now suspected that FDR didn't have polio, but
