Why IS there a 'gulf war
syndrome?'
Someone, anyone,
tell me what was different about the first gulf
war, than any previous war the US has taken part in?
And I believe I can tell you, not only the most
probable cause of their health harm, but the SOURCE,
too
This is a question for the public. Please do
not move this thread

No, I haven't forgotten
But gas in WWI is a
pretty obvious cause and effect
And things in Vietnam, also included harm to the
chemical I'm talking about, since it has been
harming many people both civilian and military since
the 1930s
I suspect also those from the 'Vietnam era' and
those from the 'cold
war Korean' era, too
Note that these vets are now eligible for
compensation for about the same ailments that 'gulf
war syndrome' vets have
My question, however, is .... What is the different
situation that these vets encountered that was not
encountered in prior wars?

Fight for what you believe in. Take
a stand against injustice.
THE FATIGUE!
Why are you interested in 2-butoxyethanol? |

It could be that the difference is that gas was actually
USED on the battlefield in WWI, while in Iraq, if the
troops were exposed to toxins at all, it would have been
largely by accident -- toxins that may have been in
storage with troops moving nearby, or in munitions that
were exploded, etc. So exposure may have been
inadvertent, in trace amounts, and sporadic -- if any.
Just a guess. Like most of us, I'm no doctor. It could
have been sand fleas, for all I know about it....

Good grief, Mother Margaret. There are about a zillion
different answers to this question. Why the guessing
game? If you've got something to say, let's hear it.
Is it going to be something different from the other ten
thousand posts you've made on this subject?

OK
I think you are right that in this case it wasn't done
on purpose; however, its effect was no less real. From
what I've heard we only lost 1/10th of 1% of the 700,000
force in actual combat situations.
We are now approaching 28% of the force of 200,000 who
have become victims of the 'gulf war syndrome' That
count is probably less than what it actually is, as I'm
sure they've not all been counted MM |
