This is a quilt purchased from Riki Ott, who made it.

It is now owned by the Valdez Museum

... and on display there.

None who came into contact with the chemicals

of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup...

are the same....

Not the wildlife

... especially not the herring...

& certainly

not

the people.

Odd thing... a Valdez pioneer had a mysterious 'bump' growing on her forehead

The experts upon removing it and doing a biopsy determined that she had lymphoma. -March, 2003

Get well, Gloria!  Our prayers are with you!

A native EVOS worker worked up thru July, 1989 -

-who was near the Corexit testing  -

died a few months ago.

He was barely able to stay  awake,

he had odd bumps all over his body;

he had a swollen testicle surgically removed.

There are others from his group,

though, still alive.

North Central Alaska

Tom Van Brocklin came and went from Cordova in those days - died of cancer, 2000

Maybe being on city council is dangerous to your health... Our beloved Lee Olkjer had melanoma in the eye; liver cancer 10 years ago... & now the same type of liver cancer again.

"Slim" Blood didn't work the oil spill but he was here in 1989 and he had a kidney removed; then had liver cancer- died 1999

He could have been around were things were stored... If he only had concerns with oil,

then kidney and liver concerns,

which are not every day occurrences,

would not be the end result would they?

Others like Steve Provant who died of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and also like Del Welch who died of lung, liver, lymph and bone cancers

& both with diagnosed swollen gall bladders...

didn't feel they were affected by the oil or the chemicals

But did they go do Dayville Dump or come across spills of the chemicals strong in 2-butoxyethanol... either on the dock, on ships or in warehouses where chemicals were stored...?

There are more questions than answers right now

Some things to think on... check into

Do you know the whereabouts of any of these?
