What Health Changes do you notice,

after too much exposure to 2-butoxyethanol?

First and foremost, those who've run into this chemical have a constant & continual exhaustion that no rest can help.

One worker said she always had a slender build

& has put on weight since her work during the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup

-   Change in metabolism?  Nothing else had changed.

The way she talked, it sounded like she was exposed to Corexit with 38% 2-butoxyethanol

One native man said his blood sugar was 180 and that he did not have diabetes
I'll have to check back with him,
as it appears doctors say you have diabetes based solely on the glucose level in your blood.
But maybe his doctor checked something else & found it was not diabetes,
but some type of endocrine disruption

Some of these are now having dizzy and fainting spells.
I'm wondering if it isn't from the liver ceasing to function properly
&/or medications adding to their 'maxed out' chemical load

What can be done for depression when it is central nervous system damage?
After taking Paxil for a year, one worker stopped, as it did no good.

The blood pressure seems to go quite high...

According to the information on 2-butoxyethanol it causes hemolytic anemia
& damages blood forming organs - What to check in the blood?

Enzymes & Immune system?    *  &/or *

This worker is continually having blood show up in urine.

I've also heard of such things as here www.valdezlink.com/scenario.htm
and of swollen organs such as gall bladder, spleen, pancreas, liver

& that arthritis seems to set in.

I have the blood records from one man (now deceased) which is about one inch thick.  His widow wants them to be reviewed,  I could put it on a pdf file & e-mail it to a Dr or someone who might pick up on what is going on with these?

Most times they go to the Dr & they are told they are OK - unless they are at the point where something is very, very wrong.  One lady was told she was OK & only 2 things were checked in her blood, not even the RBC count.  And she went in because the pain in her back was horrible.

There are so many people affected by this chemical,
guys who spray paint cars, etc ...
www.valdezlink.com/hi.htm

That doctors could already be working with such and not know it.

If people have odd symptoms that don't fit just one type of malady, maybe check for what chemical exposures they may have had.  http://www.valdezlink.com/patient_intake_chart.htm

I am not a medical person;

however, over and over again, workers say their doctors can't figure out what's wrong with them;

... so if we can learn information to share with others who come into contact with too much 2-butoxyethanol type chemicals... or oil...

maybe we can help the next person 'down the line'

start the thinking/solution process...

after all, many doctors now a days like their patients to take an active role

in the decisions relating to their medical care.

Soon a pattern should develop

that will be a help to medical health care professionals, their patients, and the general public.

Medical doctors might benefit from more ideas to check into

& I wish them the best in helping the people who are coming to them.

The Questions I put to them:  "Is there any cure for hemolytic anemia caused from 2-butoxyethanol?"

"Is there any cure for aplastic anemia caused from benzene in crude oil?"

..More Questions:

If volume of blood is down, now some years after major exposure to 2-butoxyethanol... how can that be determined?

Prior blood work, might be more an indication of whether it is only

hemolytic anemia, wouldn't it?

Since it appears to show up right away...

but if the volume of blood is down,

would it be looking like aplastic anemia when it's only the final stages of hemolytic anemia?

Would someone with a low volume of blood be more at medical risk if he is given blood thinners?

Can someone have aplastic anemia and hemolytic anemia at the same time?

If so, could the lab tell by additionally checking how the red blood cells look under the microscope?

If you don't have enough blood, could you collapse & would it look the same as having a heart attack?

  Would not having enough blood cause headaches?  ... seizures?

How do you tell if  you have enough volume of blood?

Can blood transfusions help?  If so, for how long are they helpful?

Are we seeing more people with tumor of the brain nowadays than in the past?

What are the symptoms of tumor of the brain?

If a parent has strong exposure to 2-butoxyethanol type chemicals

... the World Health Organization says their children are at higher risk for leukemia

and tumor of the brain.

If caught early, though, isn't there a good chance of 'pulling through?'

Thelma of IL had 2 tumors of the brain;

the one that was 'pea' sized didn't kill her;

but the golf-ball-sized one did,

per autopsy, which stated there was no cancer anywhere else in her body

OSHA was checking solvent exposures for 46,000 auto workers recently.  Maybe my friend who is angry at God for letting her little 5 year old son die of a brain tumor long years ago... should instead be angry at industry?   Her husband was a General Motors' employee.   Could he have had some chemical exposures?  They paint cars, don't they?  Maybe other jobs are hazardous, too?  I wonder how old her husband was when he died?
