Has Exxon Been Forthright?
NOAA spokesman Tim Tomastik said agency scientists also were briefed by the company but that Exxon refused to produce its supporting data.
"We have found that most, if not all, of Exxon's conclusions and resultant allegations are based on misinterpretations of the database which could easily have been avoided, either by more complete and careful analysis of the database itself or by consulting with appropriate NOAA personnel," Tomastik said Anchorage Daily News, 4-28-93 http://www.adn.com/evos/stories/EV277.html
Anchorage Daily News shared that Exxon petitioned the court to seal from public view 188 pages of health complaints/clinic visits made by workers of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup
Don Moeller requested his blood work drawn by VECO - EXXON fall, 2002. Exxon has not produced his medical information to give to him; however, Exxon was successful in sealing the Daily Log Journal Mr. Moeller kept... He had to turn them over to the court along with the photos he had showing the threads disintegrating in the rain suits and in the pouches that held the Inipol EAP 22 chemical that was sprayed on the beaches.
From a Local Resident:
"I worked with the animal clean up unit. You would find an otter that looked perfectly fine on the outside. (We did neopsies). Open them up and you couldn't even distinguish which organs were which...they were all a 'melted together mess." When the lab* report comes back they would say the animal died from stress from over handling - imagine that!" * U. CAL-Davis/LAB
"I also worked with the testing of salmon eggs from affected streams vs. non affected streams. Exxon had the contract for that. I don't know what the final report turned out to be. To avoid loosing objectivity we weren't told which was which. However, in some trays of fish eggs, every egg was dead. Some developed into two headed fish." Thankfully, the salmon that return to the Valdez Fish Hatchery are all from unaffected streams.
