Index of Corexit Information

ALERT!  is MSDS here for Corexit 9527 saying 38% is 2-butoxyethanol?

  ( MSDS)

Does this say that 2-butoxyethanol is 38% by weight?

Is that what it says?

There were concerns with Inipol EAP 22, & it was only 10-12% by weight...

Would Exxon triple the poison?

Plans are in the works to... do it again... ?

Feb/2003 - not the case says RCAC- not to their knowledge

except for a second NJ test Feb 10-17, 2003

Didn't we learn anything from the use of chemicals during the EXXON Valdez Oil Spill cleanup?  *

Exxon's saying it's a way to get out the deep in the ground oil out

... or just to prove a product is successful & share at next convention?

Hoping for multi agency approval for widespread use of COREXIT

MSDS says to wear chemical retardant gloves and suits... not class B rain suits.

But would they ever?

Some Norcon workers reported that the 'bioremediation' Inipol EAP 22 workers sometimes didn't even have rain suits... & only cotton gloves.

Would Exxon provide the 'moon suits' to those who transport or the workers, either?

... Wouldn't that appear hazardous? Only paper 3-M masks for the Feb/2003 NJ test

...it's not the Corexit that's harmful they've said, it's the oil! *

And if they wanted to, could they?

the 6-14-92 version of Corexit has 2-butoxyethanol...Exxon didn't identify any products on Corexit of 8-1-89 but was using it before it had an MSDS... later mention there just might be some ethylene oxide... (Section 2 for Hazardous Ingredient info on the 8-1-89 version of 9580 (7-9580) only says it contains 3 paraffinic solvents and organic esters..."The composition of this mixture may be proprietary information."  Hazardous as defined in 29 CFR1910.1200)

When do hazardous chemicals have to be revealed?

What's in Corexit, really? *

Corexit used with no MSDS - experiment in Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup, July, 1989 *

Any Exposure to Ethylene Oxide - as in Corexit 9580- is Carcinogenic!  *

Exxon's Planning on Dumping Corexit in Alaska waters again?   *

A Corexit test will take place at Ohmsett Feb. 10-21

The test is in NJ.

Stan Jones, RCAC Public Information Manager, will be attending and may be able to answer questions.

At temperatures of 4 degrees C, most microbial activity ceases ... & so would biodegrading - Don't put poison in our ocean!

Exxon formulated Corexit 3 times stronger with 2-butoxyethanol

than Exxon Formulated Inipol EAP 22, also their own product

The reason such products in such settings should not be used...

in addition, of course, to the damage to the marine environment, (which is not believed)

is that appropriate protective gear wouldn't... or couldn't be provided,

& with such a strong concentration of 2-butoxyethanol...

it's probability of causing serious harm is not worth the risk!

No one would trade lives for a 'quicker' oil spill cleanup'

After all, it was the winter Alaska storms that did the most to clean the beaches!

For those who suffer & don't live their normal life span...

leaving behind fatherless children,

 I'm almost 3
 I love my daddy
 & he loves me

widows...

parents without grandchildren...

. . . all because they took a job one day, and trusted their employer . . .

...some haven't succeeded... not because they weren't capable,

but because they were ill & didn't know it

a sad, sad story

Let's not let Exxon RUN THE SHOW... this time around!   *
